The Office of the Federal Register is an office of the United States government within the National Archives and Records Administration.It is responsible for the official publication of federal rules, proposed rules, and notices, as well as the maintenance of the Code of Federal Regulations.
Mission
The mission of the OFR is to provide the public with comprehensive access to the official acts of the U.S. Government. This includes publishing the Federal Register, which serves as the legal notice of executive and agency actions, and maintaining the Code of Federal Regulations, which is the codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register.

It also examines Constitutional amendment ratification documents, and Electoral College documents from the U.S. states for facial legal sufficiency and an authenticating signature.[1]
