Office of Research on Minority Health
The Office of Research on Minority Health (ORMH) was part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) but has since evolved into the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). This transformation reflects NIH's commitment to addressing health disparities and improving minority health through research, training, and education.
Mission
The mission of NIMHD, succeeding ORMH, is to lead scientific research to improve minority health and reduce health disparities. It focuses on promoting and supporting research, training, and communication in minority health and health disparities, aiming for an America where all populations have equal opportunities to live healthy, productive lives.[1]

NIMHD's structure includes:
- Office of the Director which leads the institute's vision and strategy.
- Division of Scientific Programs (DSP) responsible for managing extramural research programs.
- Division of Intramural Research (DIR) which conducts research directly within NIH facilities.
- Division of Data Management and Scientific Reporting (DDMSR) for handling data and reporting.

Last total enacted budget
For FY 2023, NIMHD's budget was approximately $337 million.[4]
Leader
The leader of NIMHD holds the title Director.
Services provided
NIMHD supports research, training of a diverse research workforce, translation of research findings into improved health practices, and fosters innovative collaborations. It also works on developing and disseminating interventions to reduce health disparities.[5]
