Description

The National Constitution Center is the first and only institution in America established by Congress to disseminate information about the United States Constitution on a non-partisan basis in order to increase the awareness and understanding of the Constitution among the American people. See http://constitutioncenter.org/about.

The National Constitution Center itself is not directly funded by the federal government. It is a private, nonprofit entity, which means it primarily relies on private donations, ticket sales, membership fees, and other forms of private funding like corporate sponsorships and educational tax credits. However, being situated on federal land within the Independence National Historical Park, there might be certain indirect benefits or considerations regarding land use, but this is not the same as receiving operational or programmatic federal funding.

The center's mission, to educate the public about the U.S. Constitution in a nonpartisan manner, was indeed authorized by Congress through the Constitution Heritage Act of 1988, but this authorization did not come with a commitment of ongoing federal financial support. Instead, the center's financial sustainability depends on its own revenue generation and support from private sources.
