The USDA is divided into eight distinct mission areas, each of which have at least one agency dedicated to the theme of the mission area.
Mission areas:
- Farm Production and Conservation
- Food Safety

- Marketing and Regulatory Programs
- Natural Resources and the Environment
- Research, Education, and Economics
