====Sanofi-Aventis merger====
Sanofi-Aventis was formed in 2004, when Sanofi-Synthélabo acquired Aventis. In early 2004, Sanofi-Synthélabo made a [[Takeover|hostile takeover]] bid for Aventis worth €47.8 billion. At the end of September 2021, Sanofi announced that it would stop developing its mRNA COVID-19 vaccine.
